Dear Carolynn
Sorry, it has been a while since I last wrote to you. Things have been hectic and also I’ve been watching The Donald tariff sideshow.
While The Donald continues to dismantle the global economy with his 100 days so far of wrecking abandon, Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people marches on, with the support of The Donald and many others in his little circle as they bow naked and ready for the self-appointed God named Bibi.
The killings continue; and for the last two months, the Israeli blockade of food, water, medicines and life-saving equipment has also continued and shows no signs of ending, that is, until all Palestinians are dead or there is an intervention on humane grounds. At this moment, only the former looks likely.
Babies not yet slaughtered are dying from hunger and freezing conditions, and many children who currently survive are amputees. Medical procedures including amputations are not only being performed without anesthetic, doctors are operating without hospitals because there is nothing left. And all of this goes on while under fire.
Addressing the International Court of Justice in The Hague, human rights barrister, Blinne Ní Ghrálaigh laid bare the horrendous actions by Israel. What she describes so eloquently is outright slaughter–there is no such thing as collateral damage, it’s see human, kill human. Man, woman, child, doctor, teacher, journalist, UN staffer, activist, and even Israeli–if you are on the ‘wrong side of the crossings’, you are slain if you are seen.
This morning, after watching Blinne’s address, I could no longer stay silent–if only for my own mental health. No, that’s not true, it’s more than that. I put aside time today from my responsibilities to air my feelings. And who knows, maybe make a difference. If just one person reads this and is moved enough to watch her address the ICC, then it’s of value.
The Wrong Side of the Crossings
NOTE: For the reasons that the images and footage are so horrendous, I’m not posting any on here, but hope those pro-Israel and don’t know about the true carnage, or people who are disinterested take a look for themselves. Be warned, you won’t be able to remove these images from your mind.
The horrors are hard to imagine, but in this age of technology and independent journalism, we don’t have to imagine, we need only watch, hear and read the realities–a technology that 6 million innocent and decent Jewish men, women and children didn’t have on their side in the 30’s and 40’s.
I used to wonder what the world would have done if it became aware of The Final Solution (to the Jewish Question) when it was still active during the 1940’s. I’m no longer left wondering–the same apathy would have applied. But in the defence of the people during the 40’s, they were distracted by World War 2.
Why Don’t We Ask Why
It has me baffled because what took place during the 30’s and 40’s had nothing to do with most of the planet. For some unknown reason, the world feels a sense of guilt for what took place under the Third Reich, and Israel is exploiting that collective guilt, and we don’t seem to grasp this point. Why don’t we ask why?
Today, safely tucked in our tiny worlds, or as safely as we can be tucked in a nuclear war world, we debate whether women going to space for a few minutes can be called astronauts, or be vocal because those naughty Indigenous Australians spend a minute before major events to hold a peaceful ritual called ‘Welcome to Country‘ prior to the Australian national anthem being performed–yet we can sit by and disallow even criticism of Israel’s genocide of Palestinians. Why don’t we ask why?
Any criticism of Israel is designated as anti-semitic. Citizens of most of the world can criticise their own country, but Israel is OFF limits! Why don’t we ask why?
If you are a non-Jewish migrant and you are now a citizen in your adopted country, you are expected to hold your oath and put your adopted country first. If you are Jewish you must, according to Israel declare yourself Israeli first and adopted countries don’t seem to challenge this. Why don’t we ask why?
Most disturbing for Jewish people is that you, YOU, Israel, and your supporters have many in the world NOW asking if Hitler was correct–and that’s a horrible outcome to make this a new legacy attributed to the victims of The Final Solution. Why don’t we ask why?
Scarily, there are descendants of the Holocaust victims who are applauding Israel’s actions to the Palestinians as those done to their forebears. Why don’t you ask yourselves why?
Where Is the Critical Thinking?
Of course, every critical thinker in the world understands that, as has been over history, Jewish people are not to blame for what is today being done in their name, and in their religion. Once again, history repeats and ordinary and decent Jewish people are being held to account for things for which they are not responsible. They are caught in a crossfire, and they always seem to be the ones who pay the final price.
However, there are many Jewish people who stand up against Israel. From Gabor Mate (himself a Holocaust survivor) to Jewish activists such as Jewish Voice for Peace just to name a couple. My old late and great mate, Alec, joined the UN in the early 50’s (from memory) and spent some time based in Jordan. He arrived sympathetic to Israel, but left sympathetic to Palestine. And Douglas Murray, unlike you, Alec had “BEEN there“–not as an imbedded pompous Israeli PR man, but on the ground “BEEN there”.
What an evil and absurd situation that Palestine must seek the services of a legal human rights professional to argue in The Hague that genocide of Palestinian men, women and children is wrong both legally AND morally! Let that sink in! And Palestine selected the best in Blinne Ní Ghrálaigh (link below–hopefully it is not removed). I hope you watch her very sobering account.
Conclusion
Until this latest evil by you, Israel, I was sympathetic to Palestine but not against Israel. Unfortunately, Israel happened in 1948 and it became a situation where a two-state agreement had to be reached for the sake of peace, but you, Israel demanded more and more an more and destroyed anyone in its way. Rachel Corrie amongst the numbers.
Well Israel, you moved the goal posts and put me in the position that offers me two choices. Either I support genocide or I be anti-semitic. I do NOT support genocide! You made the rules, you gave me the two choices. I am now by your imposed definition anti-semitic. But, Israel, I am by no means anti-Jewish. And there are millions around this world who feel the same, and those numbers are growing.
YOU are anti-Jewish, Israel.
I will post this now and wonder if (or when?) the Australian Federal Police will be ordered by Israel to knock on my door. At least I’m not in The UK or USA otherwise I’d end up in the Scrubs or El Salvador. I’m pretty sure my government isn’t as bad as this right now.
